Marisa de los Santos became a writer because she loves the sound and texture of words (current favorite consonant sounds: Ls and hard Cs) and to hear what happens when they bump up against each other. She was a poet for a long time (her first book is a collection called FROM THE BONES OUT), and then, one day, unexpectedly, she found she had a voice inside her head. As you might imagine, this was a bit alarming. However, in time, she discovered that the voice belonged to a character named Cornelia Brown, so she wrote a novel called LOVE WALKED IN about her and an eleven-year old girl named Clare. After that, she became addicted to writing novels. She wrote a second one called BELONG TO ME, a third, FALLING TOGETHER, a fourth, THE PRECIOUS ONE, and a fifth (in 2018), I’LL BE YOUR BLUE SKY.
She lives with her husband, children’s book author David Teague, and their two kids, Charles and Annabel, in lovely Wilmington, Delaware, home of tax-free shopping and former Vice President Biden.
