Hello, friends! I’m here to ask you a quick favour.
I’ve been mentoring a local senior high school student with her senior research project this year. She’s undertaking a research project incorporating both practical and theoretical components. Her subject of choice: Novel writing.
The first part of her project is to write a novel. She’s been working hard on it over the last five months, and has nearly completed her first draft.
The second part is to write a research paper on what she learned about her writing process as she wrote her novel. She’s currently gathering information about the writing processes of other writers, so she can put her own process into context within the report. And that’s where you come in.
Jodie has put together a short survey about writing process. There are only ten questions, and it takes less than two minutes to complete. I’d be very grateful to you if you can spare a couple of minutes to help a young writer.
You’ll find the survey here.
Thank you!
About Jo Eberhardt
Jo Eberhardt is a writer of speculative fiction, mother to two adorable boys, and lover of words and stories. She lives in rural Queensland, Australia, and spends her non-writing time worrying that the neighbor's cows will one day succeed in sneaking into her yard and eating everything in her veggie garden.
I’d be quite curious to see the results of this survey at some point and hope you’ll be able to share it, Jo. Best of luck to Jodie with her research and her writing!
Writing a novel as a senior project is quite an endeavor. I hope Jodie has enjoyed the process and learned a lot along the way.
Done! Love helping a young writer and I think digging into the process is a great way to learn & grow as a writer. Good luck to Jodie!
Jodie. Best of Luck. Stuck your head into it and Just Do It!
Just filled it out. I also wrote a novel in high school, though it took a few years. One of my favorite experiences!
Best of luck to her! It must be wonderful to discover your vocation so young. (Say the woman who didn’t find hers till age 40+.)
I’m sure she realizes that there is no one true way to write a novel.
PS The survey was WAY too brief – I was just getting started!
Done!
Done it! An interesting survey! It’s so good that you’re helping her!
