WU–Hoo!

Pardon us.  We’ve got a few things to squee about here at WU, so please indulge us while we take today’s post to do so!  What’s a blog for if you can’t brag a little, hm?

Recently we passed our one year anniversary!  Therese and I were so busy blogging, writing, and living our lives that we totally forgot about it, but it was officially January 21st.  It seems strange that just one year ago we decided we had something to offer the novelist community–our unasked-for opinions on unboxed writing–and so we fired up a Blogger account and started this wonderful journey.  We’ve never looked back.  And we thank you for visiting and making this a fun place to hang out.

Contributor Victoria Holmes reports that she’s finished–yes, that’s right–finished her fourth YA novel in a four-week timeframe.  That’s not a typo.  She’s going to blog about the experience for us soon, and we can’t wait to hear how she did it.  And despite real life getting in the way, Marsha is also about to put to bed [1] another book in her graceful Lucy Hatch series (in fact, she’s putting to bed the whole series!).

In yet more squeeing, Victoria’s phenomenally successful YA series WARRIORS hit NUMBER ONE on the New York Times booklist for children’s series books!  That means our own Vicky, along with Cherith Baldry and Kate Cary, beat Lemony Snicket, Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, Captain Underpants, and more titans of children’s literature to top the list.  This week they currently hold slot Number Two [2] (free subscription required to view online list), displaced by the Traveling Pants that refuse to stop traveling.

Speaking of lists, WU has cracked the unconfirmed top ten [3] in Preditors & Editors poll for best writer’s info blog, and considering the competition and the myraid of choices out there, we feel honored to be at the top of such a worthy list.  Official results will be listed in February.

Another list you may want to check out this a.m.: Time Magazine has listed their take on the Top 100 Novels of All Time. Check it HERE [4] (h/t, The Hopeless Writer [5]blog for that one!).

Finally, yesterday was Hug-A-Writer Day [6] in Canada.  So let’s make today Hug-A-Writer Day in the rest of the world.  Lord knows we all need a hug (psst, thanks for the h/t, Vicky!)

We love celebrating successes.  Do you have some triumph that you wish to share?  We want to hear it!
