So much of any job is repitition and tedium, which wouldn't make for good entertainment! They're mostly wrong in that a)labs don't have every piece of equipment known to man, b) nothing is as quick or easy as they make it look and c) personnel are not all young and beautiful with no lives outside their jobs. Oh, and unless you work for the FBI (and maybe not even then) you can NOT search a database that will include everyone who's ever been fingerprinted in the US, including job applicants and military. Lisa, working in forensics and police depts, do you find tv shows like Bones, NCIS, and CSI (i don't mean action and danger) unrealistic or just plain wrong? I know so many people choosing this career. also, I very much agree about villians having logical reasons for doing what they do. I will keep that in mind. again, great interview! I liked what Lisa had to say about keeping the pace of the novel moving and suspenseful. I think it is a great point, regardless of what genre you are in. You can’t afford to let your characters digress or do something just because it is fun for you – you’ve got to keep them moving! This is an excellent reminder for me as I am in the middle of writing a scene where the main characters are having dinner. Gotta keep ‘em moving!
