I'm trying to walk the line. On the one hand, the story isn't about the magic. On the other, I need to make sure there is enough that satisfies the reader to the point where they are not questioning the verisimilitude of the magic system. Ideally, I'd like the magic in my book to be like a good referee: You don't focus on them, but the game moves along and is entertaining. Or something like that. Thanks for the post!
