Gregory and Mai, you're very welcome. It was an extreme pleasure to talk with Blake. He made the whole thing easy and fun. (I did not transcribe the laughter, but there was plenty of it.)

Mai, I'm glad you were able to adapt Blake's beats to your wip. I did, too, even though my story was written; it acted kind of like a check. I also used the beats to help define what should go into my synopsis, which made that potentially hair-pulling process much easier. Good luck!

Thank you so much for interviewing Blake Snyder. I went out and got Save the Cat, and it's a revelation. I started a beats sheet in Google Docs, adapted the page counts for a novel, and am playing with scenes and arcs like game pieces. I had no idea how little structure I was using before, and how that was preventing me from moving forward. I have a long way to go, but now I know there's a path under my feet. Thanks once again.

Therese:

Thank-you so much for this interview and this website. They both rock, and the sense of writing community shines through here -- and God knows we all need to feel part of that big creative, extended "family" to get up each day and pound the keys and not feel like idiots or time-wasters (said my infernal internal demon!) Greg

I really enjoyed doing this interview, so I'm glad some of you enjoyed reading through it! This guy knows what he's talking about. I am a believer.

Excellent interview, great insights. I especially like what Blake tells us about loading the character with difficulties so he/she has a bigger journey to make. I do this already but I can do it better.

Just great, all three interviews. I scribbled notes on my wip as I read this. Tonight I'll work on my logline and look for the irony.

Thanks, Therese, and thank you, Blake Snyder, too.
