Hi Allison,

Great post and inspiring for other writers. I also subscribe to the write-what-you-know approach, but sometimes I wonder if "what I know" is of any interest to other people! Looking forward to your next post.

To paraphrase what Allison once told me: Writing intimately (creates) stories that are the best reads. And, indeed, TDLF is a beautiful example!

On the subject of beautiful...what a fantastic blog/grog.

Welcome, Allison.

Great post. It's heartbreaking about your friend, but what a great way to honor her life.

welcome allison! good blog today - your books sounds really interesting and i look forward to reading it. i too lost a dear friend to lung cancer and it happened so fast, it was like watching a train wreck, unable to stop or even slow it down. but the point you make about writing about your experiences - yeah, i think that's something i need to do. it could be cathartic, although sometimes i feel that if i really started to write about all that, i'd never stop and then there'd be nothing left. and then i'd just be the girl they find on the bathroom floor, weak and docile, her head hanging over the toilet, having just vomited her life away.
